Substack - Deutschland Update

As part of the coursework for the MA in Digital Journalism at HMKW Berlin I was tasked with developing a newsletter concept.

I created the Deutschland Update on Substack with the goal of providing contextualized German political and economic news in English. Many educated, professional foreigners live and work in the German capitol. Though many of them will have lived here for extended periods, and might even speak German casually, few will follow the German-language news. With the Hauptstadt Update I want to provide this audience with local level news about Berlin and the rest of Germany that may otherwise not receive wide coverage in the English-language press.

I maintained the newsletter for three weeks after the project was assigned, but was not able to maintain it over the course of the semester. I will be re-starting it in the coming weeks.
